Creating connections and promoting exchange
The motto ‘Design to Connect – The Rendezvous Office’ encapsulates the Sedus vision: modern offices and workplace solutions that take connection and collaboration to a new level. At the centre of this is the concept of a ‘rendezvous’ – a place to meet, where the exchange of ideas and interpersonal contact are encouraged. The furniture and room concepts should not only be functional and aesthetically pleasing, but above all, they should improve team spirit and cooperation in everyday work.
‘Design to Connect’ can be viewed from two perspectives. On the one hand, it refers to the physical connection between furniture and rooms. Sedus solutions are designed to fit flexibly and harmoniously into any working environment. They create a functional unit that connects different work areas and coordinates them optimally.
On the other hand, it is about the interpersonal level: the design of the furniture promotes the exchange and interaction between people. Whether in formal meetings or in casual conversations, the interior design solutions support communication and create places where employees can meet, work together and learn from each other.
This ambiguity reflects Sedus' goal: the design not only connects spaces, but also people and ideas. This is how innovative office concepts are created that meet the modern requirements for flexibility, creativity and teamwork.
Third places are coming into focus
In the past, employees either worked in an office or at home. Today, third places are also becoming an integral part of modern working culture. Inspired by restaurants, libraries, gardens and squares, the city is increasingly finding its way into the office, encouraging the realisation of attractive spaces with plenty of room for a variety of work situations. One of these third places stands out from the crowd: the Work Café.
The Work Café is a social place where people can network, collaborate informally and find a common anchor point. Inspired by the three pillars of ‘Work, Learn, Create’, it is developing into an integral part of the working landscape. The 4 Cs approach from Sedus, consisting of communication, collaboration, concentration and contemplation, could thus be extended by a fifth C for connection. These different work situations place very specific demands on working environments and the furniture within.
With the motto, ‘Design to Connect - The Rendezvous Office’, Sedus would like to encourage companies to create spaces and facilities where people can connect and network with each other. To meet the need for flexibility, collaboration and freedom of choice, employers need to view external locations such as cafés, libraries or parks as parts of a system of spaces that no longer compete with each other. Instead, they need to be coordinated in such a way that every employee can work efficiently and feel comfortable, by being able to fulfil themselves in terms of the way and the place in which they work.
New product solutions to be presented for the first time at ORGATEC
Sedus is responding to this development. With a focus on the ‘Sedus Smart Café’ concept, new product solutions will be presented in winter 2024/2025 that offer an optimal mix of relaxation, variety and inspiration. These include, for example, a fully upholstered chair family for a homely ambience, a timeless solid wooden chair in a high-quality design, a team table for socialising and after work as well as a versatile meeting island for agile working.
All the new interior design solutions will be presented to the public for the first time at ORGATEC from 22 to 25 October 2024. The Sedus stand is in Hall 6.1 | A010 C019. We look forward to your visit.
