LOOKBOOK N° 2

work. life. style

It is all in the mix! Not only when it comes to choosing the perfect coffee beans, but also when creating dynamic workplaces. While employees used to have a fixed workplace either in the office or at home, today, more and more “Great Good Places” are becoming the focus of modern working culture.

Work cafés, libraries and hotel lobbies have become social places where people meet, exchange ideas, collaborate or simply enjoy a good cup of coffee. For the second issue of the LOOKBOOK, we spoke to architects, interior designers and facility managers who are actively shaping the evolution of work. And we explored some of the favourite work café hotspots where creatives go to work and find inspiration.

USA, Europe, United Arab Emirates, China and Japan: The conversations and encounters at the various “Third Places” all around the globe were not only a pleasure for us, but an incredible inspiration. May this issue also be a source of inspiration, joy and a serendipitous discovery for you.

Cosmo Work Café

Wherever people come together, exchange ideas, network and work together, places of social and cultural diversity are created. In large cities, where anonymity often dominates everyday life, such meeting places are fundamental to provide space for creativity, encounters and social ohesion. In Riyadh, the Cosmo Work Café is such an anchor point for many remote workers and artists. We spoke to Firas Alsahin from 4Space Design, who designed the Work Café.

A mere Formality

Designing a chair is often regarded as one of the most exciting yet challenging tasks for many designers. A chair does not just have to fulfil a function: It must also look good in the room when it is not in use. When designing the new se:café wooden chair, Konstantin Thomas prioritised one key aspect alongside the aesthetics: the materials and workmanship had to be durable and comfortable to use. In this interview, he explains how he successfully accomplished this.
