Robust, linear, high-quality
The development of mr. 24 was prompted by a long-standing Sedus customer who, for decades, had been using high-quality products as well as furniture developed in-house. His suggestion to us was quickly transformed into a set of specifications and was passed onto our development department. Meeting these rigorous requirements proved to be a significant challenge - representing the most complex and demanding aspect of the project.
mr. 24's guiding theme of robustness is not immediately apparent – it has neither excessively thick padding nor any other oversized components or proportions. On the contrary: the quilting of the upholstery, like the straight contours of the seat and backrest, gives it a rather closed and taut overall appearance.
The lines are deliberately clean, as is usual for such ‘executive chairs’. It is designed to put in a long service. mr. 24 is a timeless piece, unlikely to go out of fashion.
Taking ergonomic criteria into account
As with many Sedus swivel chair models, mr. 24 also demonstrates the intention of strictly aligning the design of the upholstery with essential ergonomic criteria:
The lumbar support, which can be adjusted both in height and depth, is concealed unobtrusively in the silhouette of the backrest, yet is easy to operate. The neck support is adjustable to suit a variety of body proportions. A second version, equipped with joints, also allows for adjustment in depth and recline.
The choice of materials used is a reliable way to judge the stability of the chair: visible aluminium for the highly stressed components offers a feeling of trust and is not just a decorative element.
The market success to date shows that mr. 24 has been very well received as a high-quality swivel chair and, in combination with the excellent price-performance ratio, represents a good choice when working for long periods of time.
